19th Century Qing Dynasty Chinese Buddhist Necklace Carved Bovine & Turquoise

COMMENTS: A unique piece of history and an incredible treasure waiting to be added to your collection! The necklace is made up of carved bovine and turquoise beads. Each face carved into the bovine is unique with excellent detail and precision. Wise Chinese elders with very impressive Fu Manchu mustaches as well as younger characters with infectious smiles will wrap around your neck. The beads measure 7/8″ – 1″ in length and about 3/4″ wide. Hanging at the bottom of the beads is a silver pendant with Buddhist symbols. The symbols include: golden fish, eternal knot, conch shell, possibly a sun along with others. The symbols represent freedom, beauty, and wisdom. Hanging from the bottom of the pendant are 7 chains with jingle charms to ward off evil spirits, carnelian stones and green turquoise. The 19th century was a century that began on January 1, 1801, and ended on December 31, 1900. The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China. It was established in 1636, and ruled China proper from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. Pictured as received from a local estate. Excellent estate condition with minimal wear indicative of age.
