COMMENTS: A blister pearl, also known as a mabe pearl, is grown differently than other your traditional pearls. Instead of being grown inside the body of a mollusk creature, a mabe pearl is grown against the inside of the shell. A natural blister pearl forms naturally as a whole pearl within a pearl sac in the mantle breaks through the sac and eventually finds its way between the shell and mantle. The mollusk will continue to release nacre around the loose pearl and the interior of the shell forming one smoothly connected pearl and surrounding area. This blister pearl displays amazing luster with eye-catching shine. The pearl features an array of colors including white, light pink, peach, green and light gray giving this particular piece incredible depth. It is securely set in a simple 14k gold bezel with enhancer clip bail. Circa 1980’s. Pictured as received from a local estate. Excellent estate condition with minimal wear indicative of age.
