Estate 14k Gold Ceylon Sapphire Ring

MEASUREMENT: Shank 5.7mm, Top/Design 5/16″

COMMENTS: Crafted of 14k yellow gold, this modernist solitaire ring has a unique shape shank and cathedral setting showcasing an oval cut Ceylon Sapphire. The sapphire is a periwinkle blue color with purplish hue. It is set horizontally in the half bezel which securely holds the sides of the stone. The stone stands tall at 1/4″ off the finger in the simple, high shine polished, cathedral setting. The name Ceylon comes from the colonial name of Sri Lanka, which has long been famed for the wealth of gems mined and traded from it’s shores. While many fine gems come from Sri Lanka, the Ceylon sapphire is a highly desired rich blue gem with a high luster that has featured in some of the most famous jewels in history. For many centuries, Ceylon blue sapphires have been treasured by royal families around the world. Renowned for their allure and range of blues; sapphires are considered a symbol of love, loyalty, power, royalty and wisdom. Circa 1980’s. Pictured as received from a local estate. Excellent estate condition with minimal wear indicative of age.
