COMMENTS: Our deep love for the Art Deco period inspired our design on this setting and we couldn’t be more pleased with how it finished. The center of the ring features a stately 12.60 carats emerald cut natural Aquamarine. It’s color is so inviting, it will make you feel like you just jumped into a cool blue pool, ahhh…refreshing. The Aquamarine is free of any imperfections and radiates quality. The setting cathedrals up to the gemstone and is adorned with a tapered split shank design encrusted in brilliant round accent diamonds. Sapphire accents were added to bring a bright pop of contrasting color, as the Art Deco era loved to use these bright jewel tones. Milgrain details were also added to the frame work, like commonly seen in the Art Deco period pieces. All of the accent diamonds really shine thanks to their immaculate faceting and the high quality of the diamonds clarity and color grade and Sapphires are a velvety ink blue hue, as well as free of imperfections. The combined gem weight in this ring is 12.96 carats! We will truly miss this beauty when it sells but are excited for it’s adventure it will live beyond our glass showcases.
Aquamarine is a member of the Beryl family, a cousin to Emerald and Morganite, its color is more pure and its attributes less brittle than Emerald, making it a desirable gem for special occasion wear.
The Greeks and the Romans knew the aquamarine as the sailor’s gem, ensuring the safe and prosperous passage across stormy seas. In Medieval times, the stone was thought to reawaken the love of married couples. It was also believed to render soldiers invincible.
The name means “ocean water,” and tales of Aquamarine date back to ancient seafaring days. Sailors of old believed that these glittering, watery gems came from the treasure chests of mermaids. It’s no wonder that Aquamarine is said to bring luck to all who sail the seas.
